  • About the hike

Meeting point: Tåkheim at 11:00 (parking available). Here you will meet your guide and receive all necessary information.

This is a spectacular hike with approximately 1,553 metres of elevation gain over 7 km one way. All participants must be in good physical condition.

The hike starts through lush forest before the landscape gradually becomes more alpine. After approximately 3–4 hours, we reach a beautiful mountain lake where we stop for a well-deserved lunch break. Our guides will serve you lunch and coffe. There are opportunities to refill water along the entire route from fresh mountain springs. The water is delicious.

The final section of the hike is steeper and more demanding, with rocky terrain and boulder fields before we arrive at the spectacular cabin at Holmaskjær around 18:00–19:00, depending on the group’s pace. The views along the way are truly breathtaking, and of course your guide will help take photos if you would like.

    Evening at the cabin

Upon arrival, you can settle in and enjoy the magnificent views of glacier and mountains. Check into the room where you will spend the night and take in the peaceful atmosphere.

Your guide will prepare dinner featuring our famous reindeer stew. Later in the evening, hot drinks and snacks will be served.

If the weather allows, you may experience a truly special sunset over the glacier — a memory for life.

    Morning and return

You will be woken in the morning with coffee/tea and breakfast. If the weather is clear, you can enjoy a unique sunrise over the glacier before we begin the descent.

The return follows the same route back, with several breaks to enjoy the scenery and refill water from clear Norwegian mountain streams.

Expected return to the parking area at Tåkheim is approximately 14:00–15:00 (depending on the group’s pace).
